Four weeks left - begin planning your submission video
With only four weeks left, we know you’re focused on preparing your Alexa skill for submission, but don't forget about your video. It's often the first (and sometimes only!) thing that judges review.
(Video Tip: Remember to show your skill functioning on a device or simulator and to include #AmazonAlexaMultimodalChallenge on the video page. This can be in the title, in the video itself, or in the video description text.)
Your video tells the story behind your submission, providing a clear way to showcase your app and talent in a video:
- Establish your elevator pitch. In the first few seconds of your video, explain how your skill uses the APL (Alexa Presentation Language) and works well on all supported devices (Show, Spot, Fire TV, Fire Tablet)
- Within 60 seconds, viewers tend to lose interest, so use this time wisely to keep them engaged!
- Show, don't tell. Providing real life context and show judges how users can benefit from your skill.
- Keep it simple. Per the official rules, your video shouldn't be more than five minutes long.
- Don't wait until the last minute to upload your video. Due to file size, format, and your Internet connection, uploading a video to YouTube, Vimeo, or Youku could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
- Get organized. Write out a script of what you’ll say and demonstrate in your video and rehearse it before recording. Essentially a good script should talk about:
- The problem you are addressing
- Existing solutions to the problem
- The solution that your skill provides and how it works
