Enable Spanish in my Echo Dot

Hi, I'm developing Spanish Skills and for now testing in Alexa Portal. But, I have an Echo Dot and when I'm trying to select Spanish in Settings I can't found the Language. I've seen video reviews in youtube of Spanish Youtubers and these can talk with alexa in spanish (using echo, echo dot, echo show). Then why my Echo can't speak spanish? I have an american echo dot (buying in US Store), but now I'm located in Peru, and I'm planing development many skills in my natal language and migrate others (current in english) to spanish which I won prizes in past contests.
Please help me to configure my Echo Dot !! for test and use my own skill developmented.
Best Regards

Hi! Good question and I'm not sure. I know that you could switch them to German, at least, by going into your phone app, clicking on the specific Echo device, selecting Settings, and then Language.

However, I am looking into it for you and will circle back!

    Best,

Please maybe you can contact someone from Amazon Tech Staff, I have some people (which have been watching videos of my past skills) asking me to configure their own echo for Spanish too. I think Amazon have to pronunce about this, if only Spanish (or Mexican) Devices from own Store can speak Spanish I understand, but I would like to know exactly why. Regards

    Hi Laurence,

I found out that currently, the Echo Dot v3 can definitely be changed to Spanish using the Language settings mentioned above. Dot v2, the old Echo Show and the old Echo can’t be switched to Spanish.

If you have an older device, then the best way to try out your skill for the challenge is to use the testing console like it sounds like you're doing.

I'll also pass on your request for support, but the technical help is available on the dev forums: https://forums.developer.amazon.com/spaces/165/index.html where they are monitoring the questions.

Is your device an older one?

    Best,
    Stef

Hmm not just yet, besides working in the developer console directly. They said it's possible the pre-v.3 ones would eventually get more language support, but no specific plans just yet.

We'll try to get you some more suggestions from the Alexa team early in the new year. In the meantime, feel free to build in the supported languages, work in the testing environment, or try to find a teammate in the Slack channel that could have a newer device!

    All the best,
    Stefanie
